I’m sure you noticed, I haven’t posted a blog article for several weeks. It’s been raining and pouring work and other responsibilities, so I haven’t written and posted here. That’s unfortunate. I’ve missed my special time of exploring the world of heart.
Instead, I’ve been doing my best to take care of my beating heart, my heart-filled caring relationships, and my spiritual heart and soul.
Every day, I do my best to get out and power walk around the neighborhood. The hilly streets aren’t getting any flatter, but they do me a favor as I hustle up them as fast as I can. When my heart pounds as I get to the top of the longest hilly street, I feel victorious. I silently tell myself the rest of the trek is “downhill.” It really isn’t, but at least it isn’t that long uphill climb.
I regularly spend quality time with loved ones. They are kind and forgiving of my absences, but they also hold me to staying in touch, especially when I’m mired in work and obligations. It takes just a few minutes to say hello, ask “How ya doin’?”, and say “I love you.” No matter how hectic things get, there’s always time to connect with beloved ones.
I also tend to my spiritual health. I pray and attend services and other gatherings with my congregational sisters and brothers, and I serve at church regularly. That’s good for me, my congregation, and my heart and soul. More importantly, it spreads the grace of heart-felt connection through the world.
Please let me know how things have been going for you, and how you’re taking care of heart in your life.
