WormHeartsLabeledThe other day, I went outside for a power walk right after a drenching rainstorm. It felt great to get out of the house, even though the air was thick with moisture and warmth—and it smelled of worms.

As I quickly walked down the driveway, I saw a few worms crawling along the cement. It was easy to avoid stepping on them as I forged ahead. But as I headed into the street, it was crawling with worms. Hundreds of them up and down the street. Continue reading

Heart-Filled Holiday

Flower-FilledHeartToday is Easter and it’s been a heart-filled day.

It started early but it was surprisingly easy to wake up in the wee hours this morning. I had something great to look forward to—glorious singing with my choir sisters and brothers. We sang familiar Broadway songs to accompany our church service centered around the Jesus Christ Superstar musical. It was inspiring and joyous. Continue reading

Heart-Warming Memory

HeartWarmingRecently I had the incredible honor of attending my son’s dissertation defense. It was amazing and inspiring! I am biased as his mom, but I’m convinced it was life-altering for him—and for me, too. It was his ultimate academic achievement—sharing his broad expertise from years of deep study and diligent work. It was a joyous gift for me—witnessing him accomplishing his life goal. Today, I did my walking rounds luxuriating in sunshine. It uplifted me. As I walked, I sensed all of me benefited immensely from the sun’s warm rays—mind, body, and spirit. Beating Heart

It’s a blessing my heart keeps steadily beating—the alternative would have been dire. But my heart-brain writing connection decided it needed time off and it just took it.
