Heart-Warming Chuckle

WalkingHeartLaughing3I had a funny, heart-warming experience today. It caused me to chuckle throughout body and soul—a great delight for my day. Waves of laughter shot streams of endorphins through me, bringing as much happiness as a person can feel.

I was mindlessly power-walking my daily rounds along my neighborhood’s hilly streets. It was quiet—not a soul in sight, and I looked for something to distract me from the cold weather and boredom.

About half way up the very long hill, I gazed at the home on my left. It’s large front bedroom window framed two large dogs “trapped” inside, rigidly focused on the world outside. It was obvious they desperately wanted out—they strained in full eager attention. As I walked by them along the street, they barked loudly as if to say “Let us out. We want to be on your side of the window. Please. Now!”

Obviously, they envied my freedom outside.

It was a cold and windy day—the brisk breeze delivered bite and wind chill. I chuckled long and loud at the contradiction of the situation. It felt great to let loose with laughter as I plodded steadily along my way.

I desperately wanted to finish my walk and get back to the warmth of my home while the dogs “chomped at the bit” to escape and romp around outside. I kind of wished we could trade places, but all I could do was laugh and hustle up the hilly street.

What a gift—heart-warming laughter at the irony of dogs wanting out and me wanting in. Love it. Please share something that has given you a heart-warming chuckle.

I feel for those people who have to stay inside due to health or other matters. Lucky those that can go outside…
